The following is from someone I know and refers to someone I met
in Prague
and know vaguely from London, at very least this should be seen
as
attempted murder (I am sure if a civilian did this to someone it
would
be):-
Those of us who were in Prague will probably remember Sky, a
very affable
bloke who helped out at the IMC. He is featured in some of the
group shots
of the IMC video crew on the steps of the church before the main
demo on
the first day.
Sky - real name Mark Covell - was severely beaten by Italian police
who
raided the Genoa IMC in the early hours of Sunday morning. Eye
witnesses
say
one cop held him by the throat while others beat him with batons.
He was
left unconscious and bleeding in the street for 30 minutes before
being
taken away by ambulance.
He is now in a critical condition in hospital. As if this was not
enough I
have just been show a copy of today's Daily Mail. Picture of Sky on
the
front page with headline - 'Armed guard on Briton who led rioters'.
After
accusing him of being a 'mastermind' in charge of the computer
systems
used
to 'organise battle tactics for rioters', and as a 'computer expert
who
turned his skills to sedition' they casually mention his collapsed
lung,
broken ribs and internal injuries sustained 'during his arrest'.
