Following on from the runaway success of the first "Subversive Salsa" benefit
party..............
Subversive Salsa II - A benefit fiesta for the anti-FTAA mobilisations in
Ecuador
Date : Saturday the 12th of October
Place : The Vrankrijk, 216 Spuistraat (no dogs!), Amsterdam
Music : DJ Eduardo (Que Pasa, the Melkweg) will be spinning a tempting spectrum
of the freshest Latin Crossover flavoured tunes designed to heat-up the dance
floor in the most un-vrankrijk-like fashion imaginable. So come loosen those
pelvic muscles and chase away those Autumnal Amsterdam blues with a healthy
dose of steamy Latin thrills (and get loads of 'mojitos' down your neck).
Time : 9 o clock - There will be a short but stimulating info evening about
the political and economic background behind the FTAA given by Rodrigo, who
basically really knows his shit (or does a very good impression of it anyway),
followed by a short video.
11 o clock - The info ends and the party starts.
The party ends at 3, although we anticipate at least 20 minutes of drunken
spanish people doing their rhythmic hand-clapping thing after that, god bless
'em.
Cost : We don't have enough live acts and special performances to be able
to enforce an actual door charge, but we will have people on the door asking
for 'voluntary' donations. So unless you're incredibly insensitive to the
suffering of a whole continent of peasants, indigenous peoples and the similarly
marginalised, I'm sure you'll be able to cough-up a few euros......no?
