While preparations for the benefitnight for the Squatted Social Center 'Tierra del Sur' are being made in Holland, in Buenos Aires three people from Tierra del Sur were put in prison today. They will be taken to the tribunal tonight, accused of stealing the cellphone of a policeman. Policemen were beating up people who were peacefully trying to stop the eviction of a squat in their neighbourhood, in the street Suarez. We are coming together in front of the police-ofice right now in a solidarity act for the prisoners. WE CALL FOR A SOLIDARITY ACTION IN HOLLAND, not only for protesting against the brutal repression that the people of Tierra del Sur, Indymedia Argentina, the assembly of Lezama Sur and others, had to suffer today, but also because of the announced eviction of their squatted homes!!!!!!!
Like ten days ago 'Tierra del Sur' got a message that they would get evicted and also would their neighbours (40 families), the eviction can happen any day. (I´ve sent you an e-mail on this before, and I don´t understand why it never arrived....)Yesterday the Assembly of Lezama Sur got a message that they also will be evicted (this can happen in two weeks) from their squated bank, which is the same building as where a part of Indymedia Argentina has his workplace and which is situated in the same block (neighbourhood) as Tierra del Sur. As you see the state is building up the repression really fast, strategicly and violently with their national eviction plan (the violent eviction of the big building Padelai is still lying fresh in the memories of the people)..... WE HAVE TO DEMAND A HOLD ON THESE PLANS OF EVICTION......in Holland people can do an action at the embassy of Argentina........people can be informed and mobilized for the action during the party or before (that's for you to see).......We also are d

Has been more than a simple site on the internet. It as well a network, a place to meet, a tool for thousands of people from around the world to inform themselves about what is happening in Argentina- to talk and to get together - it is the dream of alternative communication, a different way to handle the news.
Beyond the hundreds of partners who everyday work with and make the site in an anonymous way from their homes, there are many of us organized in a volunteer based collective
We are organized and have a beautiful home, a building that at one time was simply a bank, whose owners had abandoned.
A little while ago, almost one year before- The Popular Asamblea of Lezama Sur thought that this space would be a useful space for the neighborhood. They put their hands into the work and converted it into a space full of life.
The provided a space for cultural activities, neighborhood artisans and converted it into a organizational center.
Six months ago , they decide that Indymedia could have a space their to get together and work. And so there we are.
At this time, it was known that the judge Ponce has in his hands the order to evict the place.
It is also where we are constructing, with our own hands- a radio that was going to be the first of its kind- functioning out of an asemblea.
We can not allow them to steal our body. We call all our friends- from all over the country and all over the world to defend this recovered space- that is also the home of Indymedia Argentina.
To all our friends from the Capital and General Buenos Aires, we are at Suarez 1244, in the Neighborhood of “La Boca”. In a permanent meeting we will be able to follow whatever is to pass.
To our friends in all parts of the world- we are looking for the solidarity in whatever form it is best expressed.

Detenidos en frente de la comisaria 26... URGENTE

Una casa cerca del Banco Mayo tomado por la asamblea Lezama Sur esta siendo desalojada por la policia desde el principio de la tarde.Treinta personas, entre ellos personas del MTL y personas de la asamblea (quienes desde ayer sufren tambíen una amenaza de desalojo), se acercaron para impedir el desalojo y cortar la calle. Dos veces, la policia utilizo la fuerza, golpearon y detuvieron a cinco personas, entre ellos personas del MTL y personas de la asamblea. La presencia policial es muy fuerte en el lugar... llamamos a todos los que puedan venir en frente de la comisaria 26 en Montes de Oca y Suarez en la Boca. Tambien habia presencia policial de la comisaria 14 (los salvajes que desalojaron el Padelai)

QUIEREN DESALOJAR NUESTRA CASA
Desde hace mas de un año, Indymedia Argentina (www.argentina.indymedia.org) es mas que un simple sitio de internet. Es también una red, un lugar de encuentro, una herramienta que miles de personas de todo el mundo usan para enterarse de que pasa en Argentina, para discutir, para convocar.
Indymedia es mucho más que una página de Internet; es el sueño de una comunicación alternativa, de una forma diferente de tratar las noticias.
Y como no es sólo una página de Internet, Indymedia Argentina tiene un cuerpo; compañeros y compañeras que mantienen el sitio, que corren de un lugar a otro para hacer coberturas, que organizan muestras, hacen videos.
Además de los cientos de compañeros que hacen el sitio en forma anónima y desde sus lugares todos los dias, hay varios compañeros que estamos organizados en un colectivo que trabaja en forma voluntaria.
Nosotros estamos organizados, y tenemos una casa hermosa; un edificio que tiempo atrás fue un simple banco y que sus dueños, luego de llenarse los bolsillos abandonaron durante diez años.
Y hace poco, casi un año atrás, la Asamblea Popular de Lezama Sur pensó que ese espacio podía servir para el barrio. Pusieron manos a la obra y lo convirtieron en un lugar lleno de vida
Dieron espacio a actividades culturales, artísticas, barriales y se convirtieron en un centro de organización.
Hace mas de seis meses, también decidieron que Indymedia pudiera tener un lugar donde reunirse y trabajar. Y allí estamos desde entonces.
En el día de hoy se conoció que el juez Ponce tiene en sus manos la orden para desalojar el lugar. Es cuestión de horas que nuestra situación se defina, y podemos perder uno de nuestros espacios mas importantes, donde no solo tenemos nuestras pocas computadoras y archivo, sino donde decenas de personas van a visitarnos y llevarnos sus noticias.
Allí también estamos construyendo, con nuestras propias manos, una radio, Barricada FM, que va a ser la primer radio en funcionar en el espacio de una asamblea.
Este nuevo desalojo se suma a la ola de desalojos que recorre la capital federal, gracias a la política de Ibarra de querer entregar toda la zona sur a la Corporación Sur, una empresa constructora que pretende convertir la zona de Barracas - La Boca en un centro turístico "limpio de pobres". Ya vimos como actua este intentendente es el reciente desalojo del Padelai, que se realizó con cientos de policias y una brutal represión que no distinguió entre hombres, niños y ancianos.
Y a la vez es un ataque político, que se repite en todo el país contra espacios y fábricas recuperadas; recientemente fue desalojado un predio de la asamblea de Boedo y sobre la fábrica Zanon de Neuquén pesa una amenaza de desalojo para esta semana.
No podemos permitir que nos roben el cuerpo. Llamamos a nuestros amigos de todo el país y el mundo, a defender este espacio recuperado, que también es la casa de Indymedia Argentina.
A todos nuestros amigos de Capital y Gran Buenos Aires: estamos en la Suarez 1244, en La Boca, en asamblea permanente, atentos a cualquier cosa que pueda pasar.
A nuestros amigos de todas partes del mundo: estamos buscando la forma de que la solidaridad internacional pueda expresarse en formas efectivas.

La Asamblea de Parque Lezama Sur amenazada de desalojo...
La ASAMBLEA LEZAMA SUR .- Suarez 1244 esta amenazada. Un juez correccional de apellido Ponte tiene en el escritorio el pedido fiscal de desalojo. Puede rechazarlo o autorizarlo, si ocurre esto ultimo el juez decide contra el barrio, contra los chicos que recIben ayuda escolar, contra la solidaridad de la gente que se organizó para realizar tareas que el estado abandono. Si esto pasa el juez sera otro mas de los funcionarios argentinos que ponen su firma al servicio de un gobierno cuyo poder ejerce con el unico objetivo de agravar las condiciones de vida de toda la poblacion.
Las asambleas barriales nacieron como consecuencia de la movilizacion mas democratica de la Historia Argentina de los ultimos años, y se desarrollaron para contener la magnitud del desastre que provocaron los ultimos gobiernos. Por eso si el juez rechaza el pedido de allanmiento rechazara a la vez las pretensiones de un banco, el COMAFI, que abandono a las ratas una obligacion de cuidar el predio que recupero la asamblea para los vecinos, pero fundamentalmente se habrá decidido por el derecho del barrio a intentar una vida mejor...
La ASAMBLEA LEZAMA SUR convoca a todas las organizaciones sociales, asambleas barriales, movimientos de trabajadores desocupados, sindicatos y partidos politicos a defender este espacio recuperado que hoy es patrimonio de todos y asi pretendemos que siga....
