Uit protest tegen de ontruiming zal er op zondag 3 juli een culturele
manifestatie plaatsvinden op het Beursplein, met sprekers, film, live
muziek, kunst, eten en drinken. Iedereen is vanaf 14.00 uur van harte
welkom om zijn of haar ongenoegen over de ontruiming te komen uiten door
OP STRAAT mee te genieten van de eigenzinnige cultuur uit PAKHUIS AFRIKA!
Culturele vrijplaats Pakhuis Afrika werd op 17 juni onverwachts ontruimd.
Hierdoor kwamen vele eigenzinnige initiatieven en een groep bewoners op
straat te staan. In de ruim 2 jaar dat het pakhuis gekraakt was, hebben
vele vrijwilligers keihard gewerkt om de kale, betonnen kolos leefbaar te
maken, nutsvoorzieningen aan te brengen en ruimte te creeren voor allerlei
projecten. Zo waren er een filmzaal, een concertzaal, een muziekcafe, een
volkskeuken, schilderateliers- en lesruimte, expositieruimte,
fietswerkplaats, zeefdrukatelier, meditatieruimte, kantoorruimte en
woonruimtes. Al deze intiatieven zijn door de gemeente onder het mom van
onveiligheid op straat gegooid. Dat terwijl de samenwerking om alles aan
de veiligheidseisen van de gemeente te laten voorspoedig leek te lopen. En
wie is de lachende derde? Projectontwikkelaar Heijmans, die kan nu lekker
verder met de speculeren met de glazen luchtkastelen aan de oostelijke
Y-oever. En Amsterdam is een stukje creativiteit en bijzonderheid
kwijt....

Come and protest against the unjust eviction of Pakhuis Afrika!
Coming sunday 3 july - 14.00-19.00 - Beursplein Amsterdam
Protesting the unjust eviction a cultural manifestation will take place
coming sunday july 3rd at the Beursplein, along the Damrak. There will be
speakers, live mjsic, film, art, food and drinks. Everybody is welcome
from 2pm on to express his or her disagrement with the evcition by
enjoying ON THE STREETS the culture that was thrown out of PAKHUIS AFRIKA!
Cultural free space Pakhuis Afrika was suddenly evicted on 17 june.
Because of this many autonomous initiatives and the inhabitants ended up
on the streets. During the 2 years that the warehouse was squatted many
volunteers worked hard to make the the empty, concrete giant inhabitable,
install utility facilities and create space to house various projects.
There were a cinema, concert hall, people's kitchen, music cafe, artists'
ateliers, workshops, practise and teaching spaces, living spaces and more.
All these projects are kicked out by the municipality under the pretext of
safety hazard. This while the copperation with the municipality seemed to
go well. And who is the laughing third? Project developer Heijmans who can
now continue to specualte with his glass dream castle along the Y-banks.
And the city of Amsterdam lost another piece of uniqueness and true
creativity....
