[kraken] Just squatted - what to do and not tot do

The experience is that, if the police or owners meet non-dutch speaking
squatters, they will try to bluf their way in more often and also the
chance that they will try to evict the place has been proven much
bigger. Therefore these short guidelines are presented in order to
enhance that non-dutch speaking squatters know better what teire rights
are.

Make sure that there is a good barricade and that as many people as
possible stay present. This because if the police comes, and they want
to evict the place without legal cause, then they need more men and
equipment, time and money, and also are forced to do more illegal things
before they might get inside. If they can walk in easily, then they
might feel more confident.

If the police comes for the first time, maybe one spokesman can be
outside. You can also await them from the window and do the first
tlaking from outside. Check their apparent testosteron. It can be an
advantage to let them in, in order to make them able to check that the
place was indeed not in use, but this is not nessecary. If you have a
bed, table and chair installed, you already constituted the house peace.
With having the house peace existing in the place, the police is not
allowed to enter it without the consent of the people who live in the
place (or the consent of those who represent the inhabitants of the
place). Even if the lock is not installed yet, they are not allowed to
come in, but better you have the barricade fixed (and all nessecary
meassures finished to prevent them from coming in) to be sure.

After this procedure, it is advised to NEVER open the door unless you
are absolutely sure that it is not the police, the owner or any other
official (like people of some service of the City) at the door. Always
check from the window first and maybe you can think of a knock/ring code
for those that may want to enter the place and don't have a key of the
residence. If it is the case that it is them (police etcetera), then
DON'T open the door. Tell them you only communicate in written form. If
they might want to check out the place, for whatever reason, tell them
that you first want written notification of the reason for the checking
and demand enough days to find legal assistance and that you will not
co-operate with them unless these criteria are met.

If they, (police etcetera) indeed have the proper legal documents (in
which the cause of entering is mentioned) then ask who is who, and only
let in the people that are allowed to come in (who have the legal status
that is needed to come check the place) and not more of them than
neccesary.

If you are inside your residence, the police is not in any case allowed
to ask you for your identification, for that is only allowed in public
spaces and even then, only because there was some form of not complying
with the law or if they have reason to expect that you don't have the
proper legal documents to stay in the Netherlands.

If it is the case that they are present with a so called metal Sitex
'anti-vandal' door, without any prior legal procedure or a official
prior notification given by the mayor of the City, then also NEVER open
the door. Let them lock yourself in, call your friends, and also the
police because you where victim of illegal 'deprivation of liberty' (in
dutch: onrechtmatige vrijheidsberoving). If you come back (from work or
whatever) and you got suprised by a metal door in front of your
entrance, also go to the police and make formal complaint of illegal
'obscuration' (in dutch: verduistering) of your private property.
