Benefiet voor politiek café in Palestina
Op zaterdag 24 maart is er in Vrankrijk een Palestina avond met info,
muziek en boekenstand (met lokale producten), om geld in te zamelen
voor een politiek café op de Westbank.
Om 20.00 uur zal Kristel Letschert aan de hand van beeldmateriaal
vertellen over haar ervaringen in de Westbank en over het nieuwe
politieke café dat is gestart in Beit Sahour, nabij Bethlehem. (Als er niet
Nederlands sprekende belangstellenden zijn dan is de presentatie in
goed te begrijpen Engels!). Tijdens
haar presentatie zal ze ook vertellen hoe het ervoor staat met het politiek
café en over een aantal nieuwe projecten vertellen, waaronder de eerste
Palestijnse fietsclub en de ´Green Intifada´.
In Beit Sahour werken veel internationale vrijwilligers bij verschillende
NGO's. Om makkelijker met elkaar en met de lokale bevolking in contact te
komen en ideeën en ervaringen uit te wisselen, is in samenwerking met
het 'Alternative Information Center' een nieuw politiek café geopend.
Twee keer per week worden hier ook lezingen gehouden en
documentaires vertoond. Naast het café wil men ook een alternatieve
bibliotheek inrichten.
Voor de inrichting van het café en de bibliotheek is ongeveer 5.500 euro
nodig.
Na afloop van de presentatie (rond 21.30 uur) zal de Palestijnse
muziekgroep 'Hanien' (heimwee) optreden, dan de punkband Cathode en
daarna volgt nog een optreden van de swingende rock 'n roll groep: Elvis
& The Burgerkings.

On Saturday 24th of March a Palestine night will be organized in
Vrankrijk to promote the new political café in Beit Sahour (Westbank).
Kristel Letschert will start by sharing her experiences during her 3
months stay in the Westbank and she will talk about the political café
that has recently opened in Beit Sahour. In this village many
international volunteers work for different NGO's. The café is a place to
meet each other and meet with locals to talk about ideas and experiences
and to make new plans and projects. The café is linked to the Alternative
Information Center and twice a week lectures are held and documentaries
are screened in the café. An alternative library is being set up at this
moment.
The café and the library need about 5.500 euro to be fully ready for use!
After the presentation there will be a performance by the Palestinian
music group 'Hanien' (homesickness), then the punkband Cathode and at
the end a swinging concert by the rock 'n roll group 'Elvis and the
Burgerkings'.
