I found the daily press (and a dictionary) a good way
to learn. The press often uses a sort of standard - easy
to read - language. Easy, but not primitive. While living
in Europe you may be familar with a lot of (foreign)
themes anyway - this helps too. With the local news
you'll learn things about the ppl you living with.
And with the internet at least you can exercise it 'everywhere'.
This will make you able - it was already mentioned by
someone - to translate things for those of your own
bros&sist who don't understand some alienspeech.
